My Way of Changing the World
Thank you for visiting my Lift One Project page. With this webpage I hope to accomplish big things, life-changing things.
I want to introduce you to an organization and a solution that addresses a cause that is very important to me: child poverty.
Children International has been around since 1936, and now assists over 300,000 children in 11 countries. They connect very poor children to caring sponsors. I am proud to be a sponsor myself and I’m asking you to learn more about sponsorship and hopefully become a sponsor to a child in need.
I have been a sponsor since 1996. I have gotten to visit my first sponsored children in the Philippines, twice. Both of those occasions were highlights in my long string of travels and adventures.
Those two kids have graduated from the program. Now there are two more children whom I sponsor in the Philippines. And I got to see them, too, but unfortunately for a short time. I was in Manila for other reasons then. But those kids wore me out, running around at the zoo, and in the park.
I have traveled to many places in my life, and I've had many great experiences. But, in my opinion, this is the greatest thing - the most rewarding thing I have ever done.
I have two more kids -- in Central and South America. I've not been able to meet them. I would like to. I have their pictures and their letters. The boy is a fine person - maybe he'll be a soccer star someday. And do you know what the girl wrote to me? She said she wants to be a teacher so she can help the people in her community.
When I first became her sponsor, she didn't go to school because she didn't have the right clothes. Just by being her sponsor through CI, I helped a girl go to school.
SWponsored children receive free health care and medicine when they get sick, have access to a dentist and receive benefits like the clothing, shoes and supplies necessary to go to school. Because of sponsorship, children have a place to turn to and real hope for the future. The amazing Children International staff and volunteers in my sponsored child’s community are committed to turning disadvantaged children into healthy, educated, self-reliant adults.

One to One Sponsorship Solution
The United Nations estimates that over three billion people live on less than two dollars a day! Poverty is humiliating and robs individuals of power and options. Without significant help, there’s simply no way to break the cycle of poverty -- sponsorship gives children resources lifting the obstacles that stand in the way.
One to one sponsorship through Children International breaks it down to that critical individual level, a level where you can see results and bear witness to amazing change.
Be sure to watch the video on the right-hand side of the screen and read “The Benefits of Sponsorship” to learn more about this terrific organization.
